How It's Done – Nova Light

Nova Light is one of our newest pilots. This is a unique character, particularly because Nova is a hologram. Whose avatar is she? Maybe, someone influential…

The character creation process began with references. In this case, we studied the iconic Hatsune Miku, Futaba from Persona 5, and the heroines from ZZZ and Genshin. We also gathered some anime references from Pinterest

We came up with three different designs. The first one was clearly influenced by Miku's appearance. The other were more sci-fi, but with different moods. After some discussion, we decided to go with the third design and continue experimenting based on it

We developed the character in two directions: one more serious, another more shy and reserved. For the second design, we were also inspired by Sinon from Gun Gale Online. She is a a sniper, and Bagliore, the robot associated with Nova, is also a sniper

We selected the design and tested how it would look as a hologram. Nova in the War Robots universe isn’t a real person but a digital avatar. During the hologram testing, we tried to find an option that wouldn't distract players with excessive effects
